The West River flows through the Towns of Weston, Londonderry, and then is impounded behind Ball Mountain Dam before flowing down into Jamaica. This area was hit in the August 2011 floods associated with Tropical Storm Irene and then most recently in the flooding of July 2023. Planning for flood damage reduction in this area is being led by the Windham Regional Commission.
